"You don't have to ask me twice." Erik said as he got the last bit of cheesecake.
"Do you miss your family since you are so far away? Do you have brothers, or sisters?" Erik deeply wanted to know more about Jordyn, but he could only get the answers he was looking for if he asked her directly.

"Well, biologically I'm an only child. Adoptively I have a three-year-old brother named Adrian. Let's see... do I miss my family... I miss my brother," she smiled. "I guess I miss my parents also, but we don't really relate as well as we use to. I don't know... maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm jealous of all the attention they give Adrian," she shrugged. "So how about you? Tell me about your home life," Jordyn guzzled down the last of her tea and smiled at Erik.

"Is your adoptive family magical? Has Adrian shown signs of magic yet? I know he's still pretty young, but I know a lot of kids start showing sings of it young." He said with a smile. Then his smile disappeared.
"Well, I'm an only child, and me and my parents don't really get along, they are very much into their careers. My dad and mum works at the ministry."

"No, my adoptive family isn't magical. My biological mother is a witch but my biological father is a muggle, so I guess I'm not pureblood..." she heard someone talking about that in the hall, and they had said that some people only liked to associate with purebloods... she hoped Erik wasn't one of them.
"I'm sorry you don't get along with your parents. The Ministry, huh?" Jordyn had heard about the Ministry in the hall as well. "That sounds interesting. What exactly do your parents do there?"

"So do you call them mom and dad?" Erik asked. He had never met anyone who was adopted before. "I bet that was a weird conversation to tell them about being a witch." He said imagining the conversation.
"Well my dad works at the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes and my mum works at the Department of Magical Transportation, so as you can imagine there busy."

"Yeah, they're 'mom' and 'dad'," Jordyn called over a house elf and asked for another cup of Green Tea.
"Well, let's see... I went into the orphanage at 10 years old. Before that, my biological mother had taught me magic at home. When I went to the orphanage, I was put in a private school for witches. Thank you," she said as the house elf set down her cup of tea. "I was born in Mexico, and the orphanage was in Mexico, but since my adoptive family lives in California, they had to take me out of that school and find another one, so... I couldn't really keep it a secret until I felt it was the right time to tell them, ya know? Actually, the headmaster at the orphanage really told them. The entire way home, they asked all sorts of questions about magic," she laughed at the memory.

Erik smiled at her. "Well it seems you have found memories of your parents though. But I have a feeling that you don't really get along all that well, is it because of your brother?" Erik asked softly.
"If you don't want to answer my questions, you don't have to. I am being a little intrusive."

"Well... yeah. I mean, I love my brother to death, except when he's in his "bug Jordyn" mood. ;D But... it just seems they give him more attention than me. He's the baby and he's their flesh and blood... why wouldn't they love him more than me?" Jordyn shrugged casually. She was convinced that it was true, but she was beginning to come to terms with it.
"No... I mean... well... I like talking to you, and I'm alright with telling you what you want to know. You're easy to talk to," Jordyn blushed. "I sound like a retard. I'll shut up now."
Jordyn's mouth turned up in a slight evil grin, "Plus, for every piece of information I give you about myself, you have to tell me something about yourself." It was only fair.

Erik reached over and placed his hand over hers. "Jordyn, I don't think that's true, maybe you are just letting your mind wonder into things you really fear."
He had an evil grin on his face. "Well, I suppose that's fair, so ask away."

"Oh... I'm not good at the questions, I just like the answers," Jordyn smiled. "Not that that makes any sense, but it's true; I never know what to ask, but I still want to know about you." Jordyn knew what she was saying, but she wasn't sure her words made much sense.
"Okay, let's see... have you always gone to Hogwarts? What did you do before Hogwarts? Isn't the youngest age here, like, 11?" Jordyn didn't see anyone younger than that at Hogwarts. What did early elementary-aged witches and warlocks do in the magical world? Don't they have to go to school? She really didn't know anything about the magical world, now that she thought about it.

"Yes, I have always gone here. Before I came here my parents, well not my parents they hired someone, but they gave me some basics of magic, like where to hold your wand, and different wand movements, but most people can't afford that. It's not like it really helped me out a lot." Erik said shrugging. "Yes 11 is the youngest, there first years, and 12 year olds are second years, and so on and so on."
He gave her a smile. "Okay my turn. You said you went to a private magical school, what was that like?"

"Well, it was definately not like this," Jordyn exclaimed. "It was... quaint. Not much room to do big magical spells or to fly very far or high.
Let's see," she thought while taking a sip of tea, "I had one teacher, who was strict, which is a major understatement. Just think... Snape's strict teaching with Mrs. McGonagall's poise. She tried not to show the fact that she favored some students over others, because the prinicpal would not have allowed that, but you could tell just by her eyes, and the fact that some of the biggest trouble makers got away with everything in her class, while some of the quietest and most well-behaved students were constantly being punished. The principal was great though," she said with a smile, "until he left and was replaced by..." Jordyn couldn't bring herself to say who. She decided that was an adequate enough response, so she turned the tables back on Erik.
"So, what is your favorite spell?" she asked, looking down at her drink.

Erik could see that there was something that Jordyn was going to say, but was going to say to much, but he let it drop. He didn't want to push her into saying anything she didn't want to say.
"Well I think one of the most pratical spells is the shielding spell, but I really like accio because I'm really lazy and I can summon stuff without getting up." He said with a laugh.
"Wait, you couldn't fly! That must have been horrible. Okay my question...okay what is your favorite food?"

"Yeah... we learned how to hover, but we weren't allowed to go very high, and I mean... if we were taller than the teacher on our broom, then we were in trouble. I understand that we were in the middle of a muggle community and we had to play it safe, but... I think she made up that rule about being above her head just to remind us who was in charge," Jordyn rolled her eyes, thinking about Professor Wills.
"Let's see... well, I like cheesecake," she smiled, "bet you never would have guessed that. Oooh, and chocolate," she smiled dreamily. "Ok, ok... let's see... my favorite main dish would be... speghetti... or maybe chicken sandwiches, or chicken carbanara... man, I can't choose! I also like raman noodles, shrimp, crab legs, tacos..." She laughed, "I think it'd be easier to tell you what I don't like, or at least what I've tasted before and didn't like, which would be mushrooms, olives (unless they're chopped up in pinwheels), tomatoes, tofu, and... onions are fine in small amounts. What about you? What kinds of food do you like or hate?" Jordyn took a sip of her Green Tea, which reminded her that she didn't say what she liked to drink. "Oh, and I love Mountain Dew; hot chocolate; strawberry, orange, and grape sodas; coke; frappuccino; and I've recently started drinking Green Tea. I don't like Dr. Pepper or regular coffee. Okay, I'll stop now. You're turn," Jordyn laughed shyly.

Erik rolled his eyes at the inept teacher. "Yes, I can see that having that kind of teacher would have it's own problems."
Erik laughed. "Well it sounds as if your not that picky, and you will not find anything that I won't eat." Erik said with a grin.
"I'm not picky at all. Okay my turn. What's your favorite color?"
