"Well, I'd hope it's not poison," she smiled.
"Quidditch! That sounds fun. I'd love to come watch you play. I've never been to a quidditch game," she admitted.
"Aww, I was afraid of that." She thought for a moment. "Let's see... I like books. Nerdy, I know. I especially like to write. Poems; random thoughts; lists; sometimes stories, but mostly just something to get my feelings out. I hate... well, I guess homework would be one thing I hate, but... lately, I've grown to hate the feeling of being alone..." she stopped and looked down.
"Anyway," she continued a few moments later, "my favorite smell... smells actually, because I'm indecisive and can't choose just one, would be peanut butter, coffee, those static cling sheets used in the dryer, and men's cologne."

"What! You've never been to a quidditch game? You have to come to the next one. Wait, please tell me you have at least been on a broom!" Erik exclaimed loudly.
"Reading isn't a nerdy thing, just boring." He said with a laugh. He saw the way he looked when she said being alone. "Aww, you don't have to always be alone. I'll tell you what, when you find yourself alone, come and find me."
He had to agree that peanut butter smelled good. "Wow you are indecisive huh." He said with a grin.
Okay he had made up his mind. Kara had told him to get on with it. "Jordyn, do you have anyone to go to the dance with?" Erik asked as he took another bite of the cheesecake.

"Sort of. Okay, let me tell you something about myself, and you have to PROMISE not to make fun of me or anything! Okay... I'm adopted... by muggles. I attended a private school for witches in California, where we live, but since we had to hide who we were, we couldn't do anything that required big open spaces. I know how to hover and steer a broom, but I haven't been much higher off the ground than... this tabletop." She couldn't believe she had just told someone the truth about who she was. She waited on the edge of her seat for his response.
"Well, I don't even know when the dance is." Another response of ignorance. Jordyn laid her fork on the table. The fulfillment that had previously occupied her stomach thanks to the cheesecake was now replaced with embarassment. She wanted so much to be a regular witch; to know what all other witches knew.

Erik listened to what Jordyn had to say and he really was grateful that she confided in him like that. "Jordyn, it sounds like you have had a rough life, and I'm really sorry. If you like, I could teach you how to fly, I'm a pretty good teacher."
Erik felt embarrassed that he just blurted it out. "Oh, well I understand. I could help you get a dress. I may not have the best sense of style, but one thing about me is, I can honestly tell you weather you look amazing or not."

"You mean, you're not embarassed to be seen with me: a fifth year who can barely ride a broom?"
"Actually, I've kinda already made plans with Alexis to go shopping for a dress. I bet she wouldn't mind you coming with us, if you want. I'd be sure to bring a purse, just so you can hold it," Jordyn teased.
"You... are you asking me to the dance? If I'm not mistaken, then you are asking me to the dance, in which case I say YES!" Jordyn was so nervous that she was talking 3x's faster than normal. She cleared her thoat, "I mean... I'd love to," she said a little calmer. Being the pessimist she sometimes was, Jordyn didn't want to celebrate too early, "However, if you're not asking me to the dance, then... I just made a complete idiot of myself and I should probably go," she waited, somewhat impatiently, for his response.

Erik reached out and grabbed her wrist quickly. "No, I was asking you to go with me, and please don't go. I like spending time with you. No, I'm not embarrassed to be seen with you, and we'll work on the broom thing." He said with a grin.
"Well, I will hold your purse, but I won't be happy about it." He said with a laugh. "I mean, that will make me look somewhat less manly."

Jordyn's heart pounded quickly in her chest as Erik held her wrist. She wanted to say something, but she couldn't find the words. "Okay," she finally managed to say, and she smiled a little awkwardly.
"No, no, I was just kidding!" she blurted out. "I wouldn't want you to do anything that would make you feel less manly." She was afraid she had offended him somehow. She eventually calmed down and smiled, "Then I wouldn't be able to be seen with you," she continued with a smile. "I mean, I wouldn't want to be seen with a guy who isn't completely manly," she teased. "That would totally ruin my rep before it even got off the ground." She picked up a piece of cheesecake with her fingers and placed it in her mouth, smiling at Erik the entire time.

Erik smiled at her. "I see, you need a manly man. Hmh, well I guess your looking in the right direction." He said with a grin on his face.
He picked at the crust and put it in his mouth. "So when are you and Alexis planning on going shopping? Maybe I could come and help you if you like."

Jordyn laughed, "I bet you are a manly man. But ya know, that has different meaning for different people..." she didn't know how to continue her thought, but she was curious as to Erik's definition of what a "manly man" is.
"I would like that," Jordyn smiled. "I'm not sure. I'll have to talk to Alexis about the specifics."

Erik smiled. "I guess that's true, what is your definition?" He asked with a smirk.
He shrugged. "Well, just let me know, and I would be more than happy to go with you. I like hanging out with you."

"Well..." Jordyn wasn't sure how to define a manly-man. She'd never been asked that before. "I don't know, actually. I'd like a man who isn't afraid to show his feelings. I mean, he doesn't have to be, like, super mushy, but... on the other hand, keeping things bottled up isn't good, either. I think a man should stand up for what's right, and stand by his loved ones." She wondered if Erik could be that man for her. "Ok, it's your turn." She waited to hear Erik's response.
"I like hanging out with you, as well. I'm really looking forward to the dance," she blushed.

Erik put his hand to his chin pretending to be deep in though. "Hmmh" He said. "Well I guess I would have to say that your answer beats the pants off mine." He said laughing. "I guess to me, it would be someone who would always be ther for the person they love, to protect them against anything bad that might happen to them. You know keep the bad memories away by making new and happy ones." He said grinning.
"Cheesy huh?"
Erik really liked Jordyn and was glad he asked her to the dance. He would just ask her out, but he did that with Phoebe last year, and didn't really know her, and it ended very badly, but of course, he was friends with Cassidy for a long time and really knew her and things still ended badly. Erik didn't know what to do.

"No, that's not cheesy at all. That's what I was thinking. I just thought... some people might say a real man doesn't show his emotions (because 'emotions are for girls and sissy boys'), and the man is the one who takes charge in a relationship, and the girl must do whatever he tells her to, and... all that macho stuff, ya know? I just wanted to hear what you truely thought on the subject... That is what you truely think, right? You're not just telling me what I want to hear, are you Erik Phantom?" Jordyn laughed, "I'm teasing you. I don't think you're that kind of man. You seem very sweet, and..." she was getting self-conscious, but she had already started, so she forced herself to finish, "I'm really glad you asked me to the dance," she finally managed, smiling.

Erik could see how hesitant she was. "No, I'm not lying to you, that's what I think. Of course you are a girl, so I wouldn't go and say that to another guy." He said smiling.
"I'm glad I did too. I think were going to have a nice time together."

Jordyn wondered what he would say to a guy, but she didn't ask. "Good," she said instead. "So... do you want this last piece of cheesecake? I think I've had enough for now. Actually, I've probably had enough for a whole week, but that probably won't keep me from getting more later," she smiled.
