Dinner and Dessert (Open to All)

[Erika]

Ethan for the moment ignored Carlisle and Tabitha. He took Kara by the shoulders and looked into her eyes. "It's not true, I wouldn't do that to you, if I didn't want to go out with you I would tell you. You know that kind of person I am."

Then for the first time in a long time he got very angry. He rounded on Tabitha. "How could you say something so obviously made up like that! I have a wonderful girlfriend, and I had asked you what your problem was in the first place. You should take a look in the mirror and see who was really hitting on who."

Ethan took a deep breath. He was usually a very easy going guy and didn't like to get mad about these stupid teenager problems. "Look Carlilse, I think you are a great guy, but it's very obvious what Tabitha is doing. She is the kind of girl to make things up out of thin air. She is lying to you, I never hit on her."

[Katie]

Kara took several deep breathes as Ethan grabbed her and stared into her eyes as he was talking to her. She could tell immediately that he was being sincere to her. He had told her that he wanted to be with her several times before and she knew he was not a liar.

"Ethan..." she whispered gently at him.

But she then turned towards a fuming Carlisle and a silent Tabitha.

"Carlisle, I thought we were friends." She said.

Carlisle's jaw dropped, "Wait you're believing him over your best friend?!? Kara! What is going on with you?"

"I don't think it's me or you or Ethan." Kara stated and then turned the only person who hadn't said a word.

"I think it was her." She replied pointing towards Tabitha.

"Do you honestly get pleasure out of ruining a friendship and possibly a relationship Tabitha??" Kara snapped at her.

Carlisle immediately stepped into Kara's face, "No don't you get her involved Kara. If Tabitha hadn't told me, then you'd still be letting this guy manipulate you." He said to her sternly and then he glared at Ethan, "How do I know that you're not lying to me and Kara right now Ethan?"

[Erika]

Ethan immediately pulled Carlisle back from Kara. He didn't like it when other people especially guys got in a girls face. "Carlisle, I don't want you to think I'm trying to bully you, but don't get in her face again." Ethan said angrily.

"You have knows Kara your whole life, and you immediately put your faith in a girl you barely know! Look at her Carlisle, can you honestly say you trust her over Kara?"

[Katie]

Carlisle literally sneered at Ethan. "If I were you, I'd stay out of this." He replied and then towards Kara who was trying so hard to fight back tears.

"Carlisle, leave Ethan alone. Is he the only one who cares about me? Who are you and have you done with my Carlisle? My best friend?" she asked him softly

"Kara stop crying. I'm sorry that you think I don't believe Kara, but how do I know that this isn't just some plot? I am bloody happy with Tabitha Kara! I use to be happy for you both. Now you have to choose Kara. Who are you going to believe? Your best friend or your boyfriend?" Carlisle asked her angrily.

Kara's eyes went wide as she blinked. She then felt the tears coming down her face. "Carlisle please don't make me choose. I don't even know you anymore." She replied trying not to cry in front of everyone.

[Erika]

"Don't make her choose Carlisle! She is your friend, how could you do that to her." Ethan said loudly.

He turned to Kara. "You don't have to say anything, I'm not making you choose. I would never do that. You have a right to spend time with whoever you like."

[Katie]

Kara's vision was all very blurry. She roughly wiped away her tears and saw everyone staring at her waiting for a reaction. She looked over at Carlisle who was glaring at her still and Ethan who was giving her a sympathetic look. She never thought she would ever have to make a decision like this.

She then took a deep breathe, she knew what her heart was telling her.

"Carlisle, we've been best friends since Lord only knows. The old Carlisle would never make me choose. The old Carlisle would never let anyone influence him. My best friend wouldn't hurt his best friend after he promised all those times that he would never hurt her. I'm sorry, but until you're the old yourself again. I can't be your friend." She replied and then towards Ethan.

"Ethan's not lying, Tabitha is." She replied stronger than she had ever felt.

Carlisle took a step forward past Ethan and in front of Kara, "Then you can consider our friendship over for good Kara. And do not come crying to me when he breaks up with you for another girl just like Matt did. It is finished with us." He sneered at her before storming away with Tabitha back to the Ravenclaw table.

Kara's eyes began to water again as she rushed out of the Great Hall before bursting into sobs.

[Desiree']

Tabitha was pulled back to the Ravenclaw table. "Carlisle, I swear, I'm not lying. I know you know that. I'm sorry you had to loose a friend over me though." Tabitha said as she went into Carlisle's arms. Tears coursed down her cheeks.

"They said so many mean things to me!" She sobbed into his chest.

[Katie]

Carlisle took a quick glance at Kara rushing out of the Great Hall. He couldn't help, but feel terrible. He had just lost her. He had lost Kara possibly for good. He didn't know if she would ever forgive him.

He took a deep breathe and wrapped his arms around Tabitha who was now crying.

"I know I'm sorry they said those things to you Tabs. They don't know you like I do. Please don't cry anymore. I don't like to see you sad." He said trying to comfort her.

"And I know you're telling the truth. It's not like you would do this on purpose. You didn't start any of this. Ethan did. And yes I did lose a friend, but I still have you." he said knowing that he had indeed ruined the friendship with Kara. It was over and he couldn't do anything about it.

[Desiree']

Tabitha sniffled and pulled back from his hug. "Yes, it's all Ethan's fault." She said stubbornly.

"You are right though, you have me. What more could you ask for? Kara could never do this." Tabitha placed her lips to his.

[Katie]

Carlisle's eyes went wide as she placed her lips on his. He felt himself kissing her back and it felt a bit awkward to him. Well he hadn't kissed a girl before, so that was maybe why.

"I do have you. And you will always have me." He replied with a sigh as he pulled away. He then straightened up.

"I need a breathe of fresh air, care to join me or do you have class soon?" He asked her curiously wanting desperately to get out of the Great Hall.

[Erika]

Ethan watched desperately as Kara ran off. His first instinct was to run after her, but then he saw Tabitha and Carlisle's receding backs and turned to give them a piece of his mind.

He reached Tabitha and Carlisle in just a few short strides. "I can't believe you would do that Carlisle. Do you have any idea how much Kara leans on you for support, and it's like you just pulled out the rug from under her." Ethan shouted.

Ethan was shocked to see Carlisle acting like this. When he met him in the past it seemed as if he had a good head on his shoulder.

"Could you actually see her heart breaking, because I could. You shouldn't be in Ravenclaw, I can see the true snake coming out of you, you need to trade your colors in for silver and green."

[Desiree']

Tabitha's eyes were very round. She couldn't believe Ethan would come over here to yell at Carlisle.

"Hey, you leave him alone!" Tabitha said angrily. "It's not his fault, you should look at yourself in the mirror and see who it is that is really the snake."

[Katie]

Carlisle turned around when he heard Ethan's angry voice behind him. In his heart, he knew Ethan was right. He saw Kara's trust in him melting away and her heart breaking too.

"You don't think I saw that too Ethan?" He asked him not even caring anymore.

"Damnit I know I hurt her! I feel terrible, is that what you want to hear Ethan? That I'm a terrible person for hurting her? Well I am. But I think it's worse to choose someone else who started all of this over a best friend for almost her entire life. She betrayed me too. Say what you want and I hope you two are happy. Unless it is proven to me otherwise, I am siding with my girlfriend." He snapped at Ethan angrily.

He then sighed. "Worry about Kara than me right now. She obviously wants you more. Go out the doors, turn to your right and walk about ten steps and you'll find Kara on a bench facing the wall. Just leave me be Ethan." Carlisle said as he grabbed his books and raced out of the Great Hall not even waiting for Tabitha. He needed to be alone right now.

[Erika]

Ethan was so angry. He saw Carlisle rush out of the great hall and he turned to Tabitha. "Looks like I've touched a nerve." He said with his eyes in angry squints.

Ethan did leave the great hall and did was Carlisle told him only to find Kara in the spot he said. It irked him somewhat that Carlisle still knew more about Kara, but not to much. She did choose him over her best friend.

"Kara, are you okay? Wait that's a stupid question. I'm so sorry you had to go through that."

[Katie]

Kara heard Ethan's voice behind her and she only let out another loud sob. She really didn't like people looking at her when she was crying. But Ethan would understand. He would care.

"No offense, but no I'm not okay Ethan. Look at me. I'm a mess. I just lost my best friend and now I'll probably lose you too. You didn't sign up for all this drama. You don't need to be going through this. I really don't blame you if you want to leave now. I'm sorry too. I really am sorry." She replied before hiding her hands in her face again and cried some more.

She had lost Carlisle and she could be okay with that, but she didn't want to lose Ethan. She really was falling for him and wasn't sure if she could handle him leaving as well.
